Tailors Hall Hotel & 3 Sisters Pub

3Hotel Self ClassifiedRatings explained
139 Cowgate , Edinburgh, EH1 1JS
Tailors Hall is the perfect location for both business and pleasure, ideally located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, from this prime location in the Cowgate it is a mere 3 minute walk to the centre of The Royal mile and many of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks.Originally built in 1621 for The Guild of Tailors and has had many uses through its four century history, including in 1638 playing host to the drafting of the protest against the National Covenant by Scotland's great and good, before its famous signing the following day in Grey Friar's Kirk. The building was lovingly restored and modernised in 1998 to provide Tailors Hall Hotel, a smooth blend of true Scottish history and modern convenience. The hotel comprises 42 well appointed bedrooms of a 3* standard over four floors with lift access to each floor, all rooms benefit from LCD panel TV's, on demand movies and free broadband access, but even here the buildings heritage is never far away with numerous original features and photographs linking back through the years. In the morning a full Scottish and continental style breakfast selection is available in the first floor breakfast area, a truly original space boasting stone vaulted ceilings, cast iron supporting pillars and exposed walls providing an inspiring start to any day in Edinburgh. On the ground floor is The 3 Sisters bar, world famous for its welcoming atmosphere, lively character and themed events. Open daily from 9am to 1am The 3 Sisters is as synonymous with Edinburgh as Princes Street or the Military Tattoo.A very unique feature for the area is the expansive cobbled courtyard to the front of the hotel with a huge outdoor plasma screen, perfect for catching the sun during summer and with covered and heated seating areas just as enjoyable during the winter months. The bar and courtyard can however result in noise affecting some rooms overlooking the courtyard, especially at weekends. Transport links to the hotel are superb, Edinburgh Waverley Train Station is only 0.3miles away and Edinburgh Airport is a mere 6miles, central bus services run frequently to various locations and many Edinburgh Bus Tours stop directly in front of the hotel courtyard. For motorists secure NCP parking is available within 5minutes walk of the hotel and car use during any stay is not necessary due to the central location.
