| Ballard’s Bar and Restaurant is named after James Ballard, the owner of the hotel when Charles Dickens was a frequent guest. Lunch is available from 12:00 until 14:30 and can be served either inside, overlooking the sea or al fresco on the terrace. In the evening, the busy restaurant specialises in local seafood. The restaurant is open between 18:30 and 21:30, with bookings highly recommended. Morning coffees can be taken in the relaxing lounge area adjacent to the restaurant. The bars offer famous Kentish real ales from the Shepherd Neame brewery, alongside a wide range of wines from around the world. |

Broadstairs is steeped in history. The famous Bleak House, home of Charles Dickens, is within sight of the Royal Albion. The fascinating, historic city of Canterbury is within easy driving distance, as are the towns of Sandwich, Deal and Whitstable. There are 3 18-hole and 2 9-hole golf courses within driving distance of the hotel. During the summer Broadstairs benefits from free entertainment for all ages, including concerts, guided walks and stunning firework displays. June sees the Dickens Festival, celebrating the town’s connections with Charles Dickens. August has folk week, the busiest week of the year, as well as the International Sailing Week with neighbouring Ramsgate. |
