| The Downs Babbacombe was originally built around 1850 by Isaac Singer (of Singer sewing machines). Today it offers comprehensive facilities for those wanting to stay in the Torquay area. It is biker friendly and provides a secure drying/storage area for all helmets and bike equipment. More storage areas are provided for guests with other equipment, such as golf clubs, hiking boots and fishing rods (keys available on request). Shoe polish and ironing facilities are available on request. |

| All 12 rooms are fully en suite, some with baths and showers over, the others with shower cubicles. Linen is changed on day 4 and day 7 of your stay. |

| Start each day with Kate's breakfast which can be enjoyed in the spacious restaurant or on your balcony. During the summer months the forecourt café provides an excellent area to relax and enjoy a light lunch, traditional cream tea or refreshing beer, with the kiosk serving local ice cream. Packed lunches are available on request. The Downs is fully licensed to sell alcohol on and off the premises. Should you request a special bottle of something chilled and waiting for you upon arrival, just phone in advance. Wherever possible the kitchen uses fresh local produce. Fresh Brixham seafood is a speciality. |

| Babbacombe is famous for its cliff -op promenade which enjoys stunning views across Lyme Bay. Babbacombe Downs is a long stretch of common land with the highest promenade in the country and sweeping wooded cliffs to the beaches of Oddicombe and Babbacombe below. Local attractions include: - Bygones - Babbacombe Theatre - Babbacombe Model Village - Kents Cavern - St Marychurch: mentioned in the Doomsday book, the town centre is boasts a fine selection of shops and cafés. - Torquay town centre: 1 1/2 miles away along the Babbacombe Road, passing through Wellswood, a popular street lined with shops, cafès and restaurants. Excellent bus links run regularly for those not wishing to walk. |

| By Car: From M5: - Head for Torquay A380. - At the end of A380 dual carriageway, on arrival at Newton Abbot - Penn Inn roundabout, take the second exit onto Torquay Road - A380 (signposted Torquay). - Continue forward onto Torquay Road - A380, entering Kingskerswell. - At Kerswell Gardens Roundabout, take the first exit onto Riviera Way - A3022 (signposted Torquay). - Continue forward onto Riviera Way - A3022. - Entering Torquay, you pass Lowes Bridge and, at traffic lights, turn left onto the B3199 (signposted Teignmouth). - At Hele Cross roundabout, take the second exit onto Hele Road - B3199 (signposted Teignmouth). - At the mini-roundabout, turn left. - At next mini-roundabout, turn right onto Westhill Road (signposted Plainmoor). - At the traffic lights, turn left onto Manor Road (signposted St Marychurch, Babbacombe A379). - At traffic lights, turn right onto Babbacombe Road - A379. - Turn left onto Princes Street. - Turn left onto Babbacombe Downs Road, the hotel is 20 metres further along on the left-hand side. During the winter months the forecourt is used as free parking for guests (on a first come first served basis). Alternative parking is found in the public pay & display car park immediately behind, or there is free unrestricted parking on the roadside within 150 metres. |

| Please note there is no lift and all rooms are on the first and second floor. Unfortunately, due to size restrictions, standard accommodation is unsuitable for infants. The Downs is in no way responsible for parking fines issued by wardens Smoking Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the hotel or on the balconies. Failure to adhere to this will result in you being asked to leave immediately, the full charge any accommodation booked will still be applicable plus a GBP 50 cleaning fee. Dogs Well behaved dogs are allowed for a small charge by prior agreement (when booking), but are only allowed in the bedroom and the lounge-bar (please bring your own doggy bedding for total comfort). Guide dogs will not be charged for and are allowed in the public areas. |
